Important Fire Season Information

Kawau Island is moving from a Total Fire Ban to a Restricted Fire Season

·         This means any outside fire is by permit only

·         Gas BBQs are exempt

Open fire season starts 1.4.18 and runs till 30.9.18 with a fire permit only and permit conditions satisfied. This means any cooking device, fish smoker, hot tub, pizza oven, incinerator, open fire of any type, beach fire: any open outside fire needs a permit please.

Safety is the focus: if it has no permit do not light it, the fines are massive and never mind the potential to burn our Island.
